Emily Tahlier, M.A.

Emily’s Background:

Emily received her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014 and earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Over the last 10 years, she has had the privilege of working with women, families, and children, primarily focusing on families experiencing homelessness. This work provided Emily with a profound respect for and understanding of how trauma, grief, and mental illness can deeply impact individuals and their loved ones. These experiences form the foundation of her current therapeutic practice, where she is dedicated to helping others heal from the inside out.

Emily’s Approach:

The ethos behind Emily’s practice stems from her unwavering belief that every person deserves a life filled with meaning. She believes change begins when individuals not only understand something intellectually but also experience it emotionally and viscerally. Emily sees the first steps toward healing as occurring within the secure attachment of the therapeutic relationship.

She is committed to ensuring her clients feel seen, heard, understood, and valued with love and compassion. Once a foundation of safety is established, Emily works collaboratively with clients to develop skills, explore tools, and nurture resilience to help them face life’s challenges.

Emily’s professional and personal experiences have shaped her deep commitment to practicing with an affirming, inclusive, and socially conscious lens. She strives to create a welcoming and affirming environment for individuals of all backgrounds. Her work is grounded in a commitment to social justice, and she actively incorporates these values into her therapeutic approach, recognizing the role that systemic inequities and cultural contexts play in shaping mental health and well-being.

Emily has completed Level 1 of Brainspotting training.
