Natalie is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) who has worked with individuals dealing with different mental health issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment, Grief, and Trauma. Natalie has lived and professional experience working with adults with disabilities, including but not limited to acquired and congenital disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and stroke. Whether the client is personally dealing with disability or supporting a person with disability, there can be unique challenges. Natalie believes therapy can provide a new perspective to help process and cope with past and ongoing challenges in all areas of life.
Natalie has a strong interest in how a person’s environment can affect their ability to function and their perception of the world. She understands that there are times people are marginalized and forced to navigate unfair systems that are designed to be oppressive and invalidating. Social Justice is one of her personal core values and she feels that helping clients find skills to cope with these injustices is extremely important. Natalie strives to build a therapeutic alliance with her clients in understanding or remembering that they are the experts in their own experiences and sees her role as a support for clients in learning skills and exploring possibilities to make the changes they desire.
Natalie graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) in 2010. She holds a certificate in Integrative Health and Healing Practices from the Center of Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota (2012) which included focuses on guided imagery, animal human interactions/bonding and forgiveness and healing. She incorporates a lens of compassion using Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, as well as a variety of other techniques into her work. In her free time Natalie participates in many activities such as swimming and watching movies. Most of all, she enjoys connecting with friends, family, and focusing on finding gratefulness and joy.
